Deanne Bray (born 14 May 1971)[1] is an American actress. Bray was born deaf and is bilingual in American Sign Language and English. She is best known for her role as Sue Thomas in the show Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye. She is also known for her recurring role as Emma Coolidge on Heroes.

Personal life[edit]

Bray was born in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, California and has spent most of her life in southern California, although she lived in Seattle for a few years with her mother. She is married to Troy Kotsur, who is also a deaf actor. On 8 September 2005, she gave birth to daughter Kyra Monique Kotsur. She lives with her family in North Hollywood, a district of Los Angeles.[2]

Bray’s parents made certain their daughter was instructed from an early age to speak and write English and learn American Sign Language as well, sending her through a variety of learning programs and centers to strengthen her language skills.[citation needed] A California native, Bray broke into the entertainment industry after she was discovered performing with a deaf dancing group called “Prism West” at a Deaf festival at California State University, Northridge, where she earned a B.A. degree in Biology.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Maeve’s first feature film role was in the comedy-drama Transamerica (2005),[1] and she has since acted in the comedy Harold (2008),[1] and in the crime drama Brooklyn’s Finest (2009).[1] She has made appearances on multiple television series, including recurring roles on Gossip Girl (2008–2009),[1] and House (2010–2011).[1] She played Sandy West in the film The Runaways (2010), a drama about the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, alongside Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.[1]

In 2013, she was cast as the younger sister of Det.
